1869 Two Cent, PR64 Red Cameo
Very Rare With Contrast
1869 2C PR64 Red Cameo NGC. A crisply struck brick-red
near-Gem with impressive frost throughout the motifs and legends.
Imperfections are combined to a tiny spot west of the date. The
1869 two cent piece is surprisingly rare with cameo contrast. NGC
has certified only four such pieces: one as PR65 Red and Brown
Cameo, two as PR65 Red Cameo, and the present lot. Proofs without
contrast are merely scarce, since the proof mintage was just 600
pieces. Census: 1 in 64 Cameo, 2 finer (7/19).(Registry values: P1)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 274Y, PCGS# 83641, Greysheet# 2740)
