Description

1918-S Buffalo Nickel, MS64
Scarce in Near-Gem or Finer Conditions

1918-S 5C MS64 PCGS. The 1918-S is one of the genuinely scarce S-mint Buffalo nickel issues in Uncirculated grades, comparing favorably in rarity to all but the 1926-S, where it is only marginally edged out. Both sides of this high-grade example exhibit thick, satiny luster, with appealing variegated pastel colors, and would be deserving of Gem status if just a bit sharper on the central details. No distractions are evident on either side of the coin. Housed in a previous generation green label holder. PCGS reports just 40 numerically finer examples (5/18).
