Description
1916-S Indian Head Five, MS63
Beautiful Coloration
1916-S $5 MS63 PCGS. A remarkably attractive, original
example of this final San Francisco half eagle. Light, scattered
abrasions are virtually forgotten in the shadow of deep violet,
mint, olive, and apricot-gold hues, which are illuminated by frosty
mint luster. The 1916-S is the final Indian half eagle issue that
experienced any significant circulation, as the 1929 remained
largely in storage vaults until the gold confiscation of the
mid-1930s. The 1916-S is infrequently seen finer than MS63, and
Gems are rare. This exceptionally attractive representative should
not be passed by.(Registry values: N2998)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 28DY, PCGS# 8532, Greysheet# 9331)
