Description

1852 Double Eagle, MS62
Pleasing Strike Sharpness

1852 $20 MS62 NGC. More than 2 million double eagles flowed out of the coining presses at Philadelphia in 1852, many struck with California gold that had been received via steamship. This is a well-struck Mint State example and it is conditionally scarce as such. Rich orange-gold color adorns the surfaces, and minor marks in the left obverse field are not bothersome. Census: 26 in 62, 9 finer (1/25).(Registry values: N4719)
