Light Toning Splashes

1875 20C PR64 NGC. BF-1, R.1. This Choice proof survives from a mintage of 1,200 proof examples coined in 1875, the first year of issue for the short-lived twenty cent denomination that was discontinued after public outcry that these coins were easily confused with quarter dollars. Light silver surfaces are moderately mirrored with splashes of pale gold and light blue toning. Census: 52 in 64, 39 finer (3/20).(Registry values: N2998)
