Description
1863-S Liberty Twenty, AU58
Lustrous Type One S-Mint Example
1863-S $20 AU58 PCGS. Medium S. The 1863-S is a challenging
issue in Mint State, despite a hefty mintage of just under 1
million pieces. This near-Mint example has a bold strike on fields
of honey-gold that reveal delicate undertones of light-olive.
Substantial mint luster illuminates the design recesses that flash
warm hues of peach and lilac, feeding into an outstanding cartwheel
effect. This obviously original double eagle shows minimal wear and
has light scattered abrasions that are grade-consistent but do not
detract from the overall visual presentation, which is quite
pleasing.(Registry values: N1793)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 269R, PCGS# 8940, Greysheet# 9903)
