1857-S Double Eagle, Lustrous AU53
Ex: S.S. Central America
1857-S $20 AU53 PCGS. CAC. Variety 20E. Ex: S.S. Central
America, SSCA 4609. Broken A in STATES. A boldly struck,
lustrous AU example with a seemingly Mint State reverse and just a
brush of friction over the obverse high points. The surfaces are
smooth and display warm straw-gold color. Accompanied by a
leatherette "book" presentation box inscribed on the cover:
"America's Greatest Treasure Ship / The S.S. Central America /
Ship of Gold / 1857." Includes a certificate of authenticity
and a booklet giving a brief history of the famous sidewheel
steamer. The presentation box and exterior shell are in excellent
condition.(Registry values: N1793)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 2696, PCGS# 8922, Greysheet# 9884)
