Description

1798/97 10C 16 Stars Reverse, JR-1, R.3, Fine 12 PCGS. Struck with the 16-Star reverse, which was also to strike 1797 BD-1 quarter eagles. The 1798/97 overdate is clear, and this is a sharply struck dime, save for the surprisingly weak E in LIBERTY (also seen on many other JR-1 dimes). Pleasing warm-gray toning transitions to light-gray on the raised motifs for considerable eye appeal. This is a problem-free early dime for type or variety collectors.
