Haile Selassie gold Mule Werk EE 1921 (1928) AU Details (Removed From Jewelry) NGC, Addis Ababa mint, KM-Pn8, Gill-RT8. Plain edge. This very rare type is a gold off-metal Pattern, struck from the obverse die made for a Pattern silver 1/8 Birr and the reverse die used for the Menelik 1/32 Birr. According to Gill, the weight of the type varies from between 4.18gm and 8.35gm according to the thickness of the planchet. The dies used for the strike were exhausted, which accounts for the worn look found on all examples.
