Description

1837 No Stars, Large Date Half Dime
MS66, Only 25 Certified Finer

1837 H10C No Stars, Large Date (Curl Top 1) MS66 NGC. Bright white surfaces only mellow slightly into toffee in certain regions. The design is very well-impressed, with no details obliterated due to striking weakness. The No Stars design type was only minted in Philadelphia in 1837 and New Orleans in 1838. The former date contains a Small Date variety, which has a Flat Top 1, and a Large Date variety, which has a Curl Top 1. The latter is found here, and is slightly scarcer. A combined 25 higher grades have been assigned at PCGS and NGC (6/25).(Registry values: N2998)
