Description
Republic gold 8 Escudos 1866 C-CE UNC Details (Obverse Cleaned) NGC, Culiacan mint, KM383.2, cf. Onza-1843 (only recorded as an overdate). Struck by Republican forces in opposition to Emperor Maximilian. Boasting a full strike, with the usual die crack at 9h, the example offered is still lustrous despite the obverse intervention that assigns the grade. It is interesting to note that Calicó only records this year as a 1866/5 overdate, which is perhaps detectable on this piece.Metal: Gold
