Description
1840 H10C Drapery MS65 NGC. V-7. A single die pair was used to create the With Drapery half dimes for this date. The reverse is from the hub first used on the 1840-O Transitional (Large Letters), No Drapery coins. This is a bright, frosted coin with semiprooflike fields and is well-struck save for Liberty's hair curls and stars 8 and 9. The surfaces show only a hint of light golden color on each side. Census: 11 in 65 (1 in 65+ ★ ), 4 finer (4/18).Ex: Long Beach Signature (Heritage, 9/2007), lot 870; Long Beach Signature (Heritage, 2/2008), lot 34.
