Description

1936 Wisconsin Half Dollar, MS68
CAC-Approved Quality

1936 50C Wisconsin MS68 PCGS. CAC. Celebrating the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Territory of Wisconsin, this issue of 25,015 pieces in 1936 was one of 20 different commemorative coins being minted and distributed that year. Due to the excessive competition within the half dollar program, the issue still had unsold examples into the 1950s. Eventually all pieces were sold and the remarkable Superb Gem has survived with wonderful tab toning in vibrant plum, amber and emerald on the peripheral legends. The central devices feature the badger on one side and an arm, a pick and an ore mound on the other, all on satiny, silver surfaces veiled in hues of light-amber. CAC has recognized the quality of this piece with the sticker of approval, and PCGS reports only one numerically finer (10/25). Population: 69 in 68 (12 in 68+), 1 finer. CAC: 33 in 68, 0 finer (10/25).(Registry values: N2998)
