1844 10C AU53 PCGS. The relatively low mintage of 72,500 pieces led to promotional efforts by one Frank C. Ross, who nicknamed the 1844 Seated dime "Little Orphan Annie." Silver-gray surfaces imbued with splashes of bluish-violet exhibit well defined devices. Devoid of significant blemishes and housed in a green label holder. Population: 3 in 53, 10 finer (5/09).(Registry values: N1793)
