Description

1826 O-112a Half Dollar, MS65
Vibrantly Lustrous Type Coin

1826 50C O-112a, R.2, MS65 NGC. The usual late die state of this variety, showing a die lump in the notch of the N in UNITED. Overton-112 and -112a have a diagonal die line in the right foot of the R in LIBERTY, aiding in attribution. This variety is often represented in type sets. The present Gem example is radiantly lustrous with just the faintest champagne tint. A few of the obverse stars are incomplete, but the coin is otherwise sharply struck. Census (all varieties included): 62 in 65 (1 in 65 ), 26 finer (7/19).
