1793 Liberty Cap Cent
Rare Sheldon-12
Very Good Details

1793 1C Liberty Cap, S-12, B-21, Low R.6 -- Corrosion -- NGC Details. VG. Among the three major design types of first-year cents, the Liberty Cap is the most difficult to secure. The usually encountered variety is S-13 or S-14, but this is the rare Sheldon-12, identified by a low date and a single leaf below OF. The deep brown fields are granular and contrast with steel-gray high points. All peripheral legends are sharp. ONE CENT is faint but a majority of the denomination is readable.
Ex: Long Beach Signature (Heritage, 6/2018), lot 3779.
