Description
1840-C Two and a Half Liberty, AU50
Old-Time Patina, Partial Luster, CAC
1840-C $2 1/2 AU50 PCGS. CAC. Winter-1. Original olive-gold
patina with hints of luster in the protected portions of the fields
gives this CAC-endorsed AU example exceptional eye appeal for the
grade. A touch of the usual strike softness on the eagle's neck and
left (facing) leg is hardly notable, and the obverse border stars
are well defined. A hair-thin horizontal scratch over the portrait
is the only notable surface fault. Housed in a Generation 3.1 green
label holder. Population: 27 in 50, 70 finer. CAC: 7 in 50, 19
finer (8/25).(Registry values: P2)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25GB, PCGS# 7718, Greysheet# 8333)
Weight: 4.18 grams
Metal: 90% Gold, 10% Copper
