Description
1881 3CN PR66 Ultra Cameo NGC. Champagne-gold and gray toning add a hint of natural patina to this deeply mirrored and boldly contrasted Premium Gem proof -- a mere speckling on the obverse, with the reverse evenly toned a delightful pale-gold color. The strike is full on the wreath and bowknot, while intense frost on the obverse portrait joins the sharp strike. Fewer than a dozen 1881 Ultra or Deep Cameo pieces exist between the two services in PR66 or finer grades.
