Description

1824/1 Half Dollar, MS62
O-101a, Vibrant Luster, Full Strike

1824/1 50C O-101a, R.2, MS62 PCGS. Reddish-gold iridescence over silver-gray surfaces complements the bountiful luster on this sharply struck bust half. A popular Guide Book entry, the O-101 variety is prized for the clear, overcut 1 beneath a large 4, with the underdigit showing on both sides of the 4's stand. There are hardly any distractions on this radiant half. A few tiny abrasions and luster grazes are all that keep it from an even higher grade. The eye appeal is remarkable. Population: 10 in 62, 24 finer (5/16).
Ex: FUN Signature (Heritage, 1/2014), lot 4442.
