Description

1870 Seated Dollar, MS63
Attractive, Conditionally Scarce Example

1870 $1 MS63 PCGS. OC-3, R.2. Die lump on the leg below the pole. The 1870 Seated dollar mintage was relatively large at 415,000 pieces, but few were saved from circulation for numismatic purposes, and Mint State coins are scarce. This example is boldly struck. Lustrous surfaces reveal scattered abrasions consistent with the grade. The peripheries show speckled reddish-russet patina, while the fields and centers are essentially untoned. Population: 27 in 63 (3 in 63+), 26 finer (3/18).
