Condition Census 1831 N-14 Cent

1831 1C Large Letters AU58 NGC. VF35 EAC. N-14.5, Usual Die State, High R.4. There is no known example of the variety known as Andrews-13 (which would have been N-13).
The profile is lightly doubled. This example is tied with several others for fifth finest known of the variety. Obverse dentilation has mostly faded with little border detail left. On the reverse, nearly all dentilation is sharp and clear, although narrow at the upper left. Only one Mint State specimen of this variety is known, with two AUs and an XF, per EAC grading. The specialist is provided with an extremely important opportunity to acquire a high grade example of the variety. The surfaces are attractive with light and medium brown mixed together. A dark toning line crosses the lower part of the obverse. These surfaces are choice without serious marks, and possess attractive luster.
