Description

1939 Half Dollar, PR68+
Tied for Finest Certified

1939 50C PR68+ PCGS. CAC. The 1939 is intermediate in rarity among Walking Liberty half dollar proofs, more available than the first-year 1936 but scarce relative to the final-year 1942. Although proof 1939 halves in Select condition can be obtained at any respectable coin show, the issue emerges as a great rarity at the PR68+ level. PCGS has certified only two such pieces (as of 3/20), and NGC has graded only three. Neither service has graded any finer. This intricately impressed specimen offers pastel straw-gold, sky-blue, and rose-red patina. A fleck on the reverse rim at 3 o'clock serves as an identifier.(Registry values: N1793)
