Description

1795 O-116 Half, XF Details
Heavy Die Clashing

1795 50C 2 Leaves, O-116, T-11, R.4 -- Damaged -- PCGS Genuine. XF Details. Tompkins Die State 2/2. This O-116 (T-11) example has slight rim damage on the obverse that prevents PCGS from assigning a numeric grade. A ghostlike, incuse mirror image of UNITED is readily seen beneath LIBE of LIBERTY, and a row of die-clashed segments above UNITED confirm the late die stage -- the second and final use of the obverse, and the sole use of the reverse die. Gunmetal-gray toning deepens at the borders. Although numerous adjustment marks crisscross the reverse, this coin is sharply struck.
