Description
1912 Ten Dollar, MS66
High-End Condition Rarity
1912 $10 MS66 PCGS. Most Uncirculated examples of this
Philadelphia issue exist in the MS61 to MS64 grade range. Gems are
scarce, and anything finer is decidedly rare. We have handled a
Premium Gem 1912 eagle on several occasions in recent years due to
the repeated offering of just a few coins. Looking at the
population figures, the MS66 survivorship of this issue is about
equal between PCGS and NGC, although at auction PCGS coins are
scarcer. The possibility of duplication in the certified population
exists. This is only the third PCGS-graded Premium Gem example that we have handled within the past decade. Luster abounds in frosty yellow-gold cartwheels, with sharp design elements and exceptionally clean fields. Liberty's cheek and the eagle's wing show trivial signs of contact that do not detract. PCGS reports only two numerically finer examples (9/25).
