1892-CC $20 MS62 PCGS. Winter 1-A....
Description
1892-CC Double Eagle, MS62
Elusive Mint State Example
Undesignated Prooflike Fields
1892-CC $20 MS62 PCGS. Winter 1-A. Although only moderately
scarce in the lower Mint State grades, the 1892-CC is unknown any
finer than a single MS64 and even MS63 pieces remain rare. The
27,265-piece mintage was largely exported and although sizeable
hoards have returned to U.S. shores, they seldom achieve a grade
any finer than MS62. This example resides in a Gen. 4.0 PCGS holder
in use from 1998 to 2002, with the barcode on the back. Prooflike
flash throughout both sides, rich orange-gold color, and a sharp
strike reveal only scattered small marks and make this 1892-CC a
high-end example for the date and mint. Eye appeal is terrific.
PCGS reports only six numerically finer examples (all MS63) and six
pieces in 62+ (10/25).(Registry values: N4719)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 26C6, PCGS# 9020, Greysheet# 9951)
