1896-O Dollar, MS63
An Attractive Example of the Issue
1896-O $1 MS63 NGC. Ex: M L Moser Collection. Some
interesting extra metal on the rim at 10 o'clock. A bit softly
struck on the obverse but generally bold and crisply detailed on
the reverse, this Select Mint State example displays smooth, satiny
luster and mostly untoned surfaces that reveal subtle hints of
sky-blue and almond-gold toning. Minor surface marks keep it from a
higher grade. NGC has only graded 14 coins from this
poorly-produced New Orleans issue any finer (10/14).(Registry values: P9, N2998)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 2563, PCGS# 7242, Greysheet# 7624)
