Description

1914-D Lincoln Cent, MS65 Red
Sought-After Series Key

1914-D 1C MS65 Red PCGS. The 1914-D Lincoln cent is a key issue with a low mintage of 1.1 million pieces. Despite the low mintage figure, the 1914-D was largely overlooked by contemporary collectors and few high-quality examples were saved at the time of issue. The 1914-D became better known and highly sought-after in the 1930s, with the advent of coin albums and the Standard Catalogue. By then, most examples had circulated extensively and few would grade better than Fine-Very Fine by today's standards.

The present coin is a delightful Gem, with original Red surfaces that show no mentionable distractions and no trace of carbon. Vibrant mint luster radiates from both sides. The design elements are sharply detailed throughout and overall eye appeal is terrific. Population: 75 in 65 (10 in 65+) Red, 7 finer (7/19).(Registry values: N4719)
