1955 Lincoln Cent, MS64 Red
Doubled Die Obverse Guide Book Variety
1955 1C Doubled Die Obverse, FS-101, MS64 Red PCGS. The
well-preserved copper-gold surfaces of this impressive Choice
example show occasional splashes of deep blue, especially on the
obverse, and exhibit sharply detailed design features. A couple of
minuscule marks on each side keep the piece from Gem
classification. While there are many examples of this famous
Guide Book and Cherrypickers variety available in the
marketplace, precious few Gems are found with the Red
classification. Housed in a green-label holder. PCGS has graded 21
numerically finer Red examples (7/19).Ex: Houston Signature (Heritage, 12/2008), lot 482; Central States Signature (Heritage, 4/2009), lot 1290.
