Description

1860 Judd-267 Half Dime, MS62
Transitional Piece

1860 H10C Transitional, Judd-267, Pollock-315, R.4, MS62 PCGS. Steel surfaces contain russet highlights and significant Mint luster. Striking weakness only impacts the face, the upper right stars, and the upper left wreath elements. This issue combines the obverse style of 1859 with hollow stars, designed by Anthony C. Paquet, with the reverse wreath style introduced in 1860, creating a "stateless" coin. These were all struck at the initiative of Mint Director James Ross Snowden for sale to numismatists.
