Description

1879-O Silver Dollar, MS65+
Spectacular for the Grade

1879-O $1 MS65+ PCGS. CAC. Ex: JCS Collection. The 1879-O can be a frustrating issue to acquire for collectors. Examples are abundant in the MS62 to MS65 grade range, but these pieces frequently lack pleasing eye appeal. In MS66, attractive examples are known, but they are rare and out of reach for most collectors. This Plus-graded CAC Gem balances both worlds. Luster vibrantly cartwheels around untoned surfaces, complementing impressively well-struck design elements. PCGS was strict with this coin -- at first glance, it appears too fine for the grade, although a loupe and extensive study reveal insignificant grazes here and there. CAC: 82 in 65, 6 finer (7/19).
