Description

1879-S Dollar, Dazzling MS68+
Tied for the Finest Certified

1879-S $1 MS68+ PCGS. CAC. Ex: JCS Collection. Although considered a type coin issue similar to the 1880-S and '81-S, the 1879-S Morgan dollar is actually somewhat scarcer in Superb Gem condition. Moreover, no examples of this issue are certified in MS69. Offered here, an MS68+ CAC coin, is one of the finest pieces known. Both sides are brilliant and vibrantly lustrous. A hint of reflectivity is discernible in the obverse fields, but this coin is otherwise a showcase of unblemished, frosty mint luster and sharp detail. Less than one third of the 1879-S Morgans in MS68 and MS68+ are CAC endorsed. This piece is incredibly important to Registry Set collectors. Population: 11 in 68+, 0 finer. CAC: 85 in 68, 0 finer (7/19).
