Description

1880-S Morgan Dollar, MS68+
CAC-Approved in Near-Perfect Condition

1880-S $1 MS68+ PCGS. CAC. Ex: JCS Collection. Although it represents one of the most plentiful issues in the Morgan dollar series, this 1880-S has perhaps the greatest level of collector appeal of all the magnificent coins in this collection. As a type coin, it is virtually unimprovable, and as a date representative it is near-perfection and exactly what Registry Set collectors strive for. PCGS has awarded a Plus designation to only 33 MS68 examples of this issue (including two Prooflike pieces), and there are but six MS69 coins finer (including a lone MS69 Prooflike piece) (7/19). In this grade, one expects virtual perfection. And virtual perfection is what this coin is. Endorsed by CAC, both sides glisten like fresh frost, showcasing fully defined motifs and showing not even a single discernible flaw. A lone, tiny dab of russet toning near the first U in UNUM serves as a pedigree marker, while the remainder of the coin is brilliant. We challenge you to find a finer Morgan dollar of any date. CAC has awarded a green label to only one higher-grade example (7/19).
