Description

1856 Silver Three Cent, PR65 Cameo
Sharp Strike, Early Die State

1856 3CS PR65 Cameo PCGS. PCGS estimates that only about 60 proof 1856 three cent silver pieces are known. Few are designated Cameos, and none are Deep Cameos at that service. PCGS and NGC combined report only nine Cameos in all grades, plus one PR67 Ultra Cameo at NGC (4/18). This is a sharp Gem struck from fresh dies. Unlike many other proofs, this piece does not show excessive die polishing in the recesses of the design. The interiors have champagne tinting, surrounded by blue-green and russet borders. Cameo contrast is pleasing on both sides. Population: 2 in 65 Cameo, 1 finer (4/18).(Registry values: N7079)
