1843 Liberty Eagle, AU58
Triple-Punched Date
1843 $10 AU58 NGC. VP-001. The 1843 Liberty eagle claims a
relatively generous mintage of 75,462 pieces, but the issue is
quite elusive today, especially in high grade. The date on this
coin is triple punched (Breen-6861) and certified as 1843/1843 by
the NGC Variety Plus program. The variety is interesting, but not
significantly more difficult to locate than the perfect date of
this year. Only a trace of wear shows on the well-detailed design
elements of this attractive near-Mint specimen and the pleasing
orange-gold surfaces are lightly abraded.(Registry values: N2998)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 262P, PCGS# 8588, Greysheet# 9363)
