WB-103, Repunched Date
1856-O 50C Repunched Date, WB-103, Die Pair 15, R.3, MS65 PCGS.
CAC. The 56 in the date is noticeably repunched on this popular
variety. The strike is intricate aside from slight blending on the
dentils. Medium caramel-gold and jade-green toning is illuminated
by vibrant luster. The obverse is essentially pristine, and the
reverse has only a couple of minor marks. The 1856-O is seldom seen
this fine and rarely finer. Population: 20 in 65, 3 finer. CAC: 9
in 65, 2 finer (5/16).Ex: Dallas Signature (Heritage, 10/2008), lot 902; Long Beach Signature (Heritage, 2/2009), lot 1333; Central States Signature (Heritage, 4-5/2009), lot 754.
