Description

1880-S Morgan Dollar, MS68
Extraordinary Eye Appeal

1880-S $1 MS68 NGC. The 1880-S is one of the most abundant of all early Morgan dollars, resulting from a large initial production of 8.9 million coins, of which the Treasury released a prodigious quantity in the 1950s and in 1962-1964. Both sides of this example are awash in intense luster and each exhibits sharply detailed design elements. Untoned surfaces reveal a few minuscule marks on close inspection, but these scarcely detract from the incredible visual appeal. Only four coins have been certified in higher numeric grades at NGC (1/11).(Registry values: P1, N1793)
