Description

1858 Double Eagle, AU58
Low-Mintage Condition Rarity

1858 $20 AU58 NGC. The Philadelphia Mint limited double eagle coinage in 1858 to just 211,714 coins, with survivors having an average grade of just over AU50. The present piece is clearly above average. Trivial marks and faint hairlines are evident in the reflective fields of this lovely near-Mint orange-gold double eagle. NGC has examined just 35 finer coins (6/25).
