1881 Trade Dollar, PR65
Popular Proof-Only Issue
1881 T$1 PR65 NGC. Once Morgan dollar production began in
1878, Trade dollar coinage at Philadelphia was limited to a small
run of proof strikes each year through 1883, or 1885 if the major
rarities are included. The 1881 had the second lowest production of
those issues when 960 proofs were coined. This impressive piece has
bold design definition beneath rich steel-blue, lavender, and
