1798 Draped Bust Dollar, VF30
B-1, BB-82, Small Eagle, 13 Stars Variety

1798 $1 Small Eagle, 13 Stars VF30 PCGS. B-1, BB-82, R.3. A classic variety in the early dollar series, this 1798 Draped Bust example is the only variety with 13 obverse stars coupled with the Small Eagle reverse. The remarkably unabraded surfaces and unmarked rims display lilac hues over silver surfaces, with pleasing gold highlights. Glimpses of mint luster still remain in sheltered areas. Boldness of the devices suggests a strong strike on all but the eagle's breast, which is still adequately rendered given its exposed position on the coin and the VF30 designation. An exceptional early dollar in a popular collector grade.(Registry values: N2998)
