Description

1798 Heraldic Eagle Dollar, XF45
B-27, BB-113, Some Mint Luster Remains

1798 $1 Large Eagle, Pointed 9, Close Date XF45 PCGS. B-27, BB-113, R.2. Lilac and gold accents bolster light-gray toning of this attractive, sharply detailed Draped Bust dollar, which shows remaining mint luster over the essentially unmarked surfaces. This example is the B-27, BB-113 variety, Die State II, with a series of light die cracks around the legend on the reverse and a very faint one passing through the 9 in the date. It is a relatively common variety of the pointed 9, heraldic-eagle design, and therefore a good choice for type.(Registry values: N1793)
