Description

1919-S Quarter, MS64 Full Head
Series Rarity in Full Head

1919-S 25C MS64 Full Head NGC. The 1919-S is one of the rarest issues in the Standing Liberty quarter series in terms of actual availability in Full Head. We believe there is some duplication in the certified population figures, particularly in the MS63 and MS64 Full Head levels, where upgrade attempts have been made for the pricey MS65 Full Head designation. Our archives reveal Full Head 1919-S quarters to be rare in all grades but most often seen in MS64. Active trading among the few Gem Full Head coins known makes them appear more available than they actually are.

This near-Gem Full Head example is sharp on the head, shield rivets, and eagle's feathers. Satiny mint luster shows delicate champagne toning and no distracting abrasions. The date numerals are clear, although not fully brought up. Census: 19 in 64 Full Head, 12 finer (6/17).(Registry values: N4719)

Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 243D, PCGS# 5733, Greysheet# 5580)
