Description

1893-O Half Dollar, MS66
Among the Finest Certified

1893-O 50C MS66 NGC. Although not rare in the absolute sense with nearly 1.4 million coins struck, the 1893-O Barber half is a condition rarity in high Mint State grades; the population thins considerably above MS63. Only seven MS66 pieces have been certified by both NGC and PCGS combined with none finer. This is a rare opportunity for a collector to obtain one of the finest representatives of this early Barber half. Splendid green-gray, gold, and crimson peripheral toning encircles the lighter silver-gray centers. The strike is razor-sharp, showing no mentionable weakness on either side -- a pleasing exception to the rule for O-mint coins. Glowing luster radiates beneath the vibrant toning. This virtually pristine Premium Gem Barber half would make a perfect addition to a fine Registry Set. Census: 2 in 66, 0 finer (4/18).(Registry values: N7079)
