1799 Ten Dollar, AU50 Details
BD-9, Large Obverse Stars
Rare Die Marriage

1799 $10 Large Obverse Stars, BD-9, High R.6 -- Mount Removed, Repaired, Polished -- ANACS. AU50 Details. The 1799 BD-9 ten dollar is rare. Dannreuther estimates there are only 14 to 18 survivors. BD-9 is the rarer of the two Large Obverse Stars varieties, but is best identified by the bold, curved lathe lines (as made) within the shield. This is a sharp but glossy representative. The right obverse field is smoothed, and the borders display of few dollops of cherry-red patina, at 12, 2, and 6 o'clock on the obverse, and at 3 and 6 o'clock on the reverse.
