Description

1877 Liberty Eagle, AU53
Only 797 Examples Struck

1877 $10 AU53 NGC. The 1877 Liberty eagle claims a minuscule mintage of just 797 pieces, making it a rare issue in all grades and a prime condition rarity in Mint State. PCGS CoinFacts estimates 50-65 examples survive in all grades, but PCGS has certified only four in Mint State, one in MS60 and three in MS61 (7/19). Meanwhile, NGC has graded no examples in Mint State grades (7/19).

This impressive AU53 example exhibits just a touch of wear on the well-detailed design elements. The pleasing yellow-gold surfaces display some minor abrasions and chatter in the fields, with prooflike reflectivity in sheltered areas around the devices. The overall Presentation is most attractive. Census: 4 in 53, 19 finer (7/19).(Registry values: N4719)
