Description
Pleasing Gem 1873 Open 3 Three Cent Nickel
1873 3CN Open 3 MS65 PCGS. A lustrous Gem with lightly variegated tan and dove-gray patina. The obverse is well struck, even on the denticles, while the reverse shows occasional softness of strike, typical for a business strike within the series. The obverse exhibits multiple prominent mint-produced clashmarks, the reverse die was apparently new since no clashes are present. No proof Open 3 Three Cent Nickels were struck, since the logotype modified too late for specimen production. Population: 8 in 65, none finer (1/05).From the Bruce Scher #1 All-Time PCGS Registry Set.(#3740) (Registry values: N1793)
