Description
Superb, Finest Certified 1874 Three Cent Nickel
1874 3CN MS67 PCGS. When one considers the constant die stress in producing nickel coinage, particularly in these early years, and the ongoing menace of carbon spotting, it is little wonder that Gem and better examples from high production years are deceivingly difficult to locate. The present Superb Gem shimmers with satiny brilliance and is boldly struck with almost no evidence of die clashing. Just the slightest rose-gold patina embraces either side. We cannot recall seeing another 1874 of this caliber and the grading services concur, this being the only MS67 certified by either PCGS or NGC (1/05).From the Bruce Scher #1 All-Time PCGS Registry Set.(#3742) (Registry values: N2998)
