Description
1857-S Double Eagle, MS65
Ex: S.S. Central America, CAC-Endorsed
1857-S $20 Spiked Shield, Variety 20A, MS65 PCGS. CAC. Ex:
S.S. Central America. SSCA 4985. Housed in its original gold
foil holder with CAC approval, this Gem No Motto double eagle
represents the well-known Spiked Shield variety, with a gouge
through the left shield border seen on a majority of S.S.
Central America recoveries. Peach-gold surfaces are
characteristically frosted. Liberty's curls, and the eagle's wing
and neck feathers display pinpoint definition. The peripheral
elements are well-struck, but not quite to the same extent as the
centers. Phenomenal visual appeal, and a wonderful Type One
representative.(Registry values: P2)Coin Index Numbers: (Variety PCGS# 70000, Base PCGS# 8922, Greysheet# 9892)
