Description
Proof Only 1886 Three Cent Nickel Tied For Finest Certified
1886 3CN PR68 PCGS. Lovely pastel peach and lilac colors endow this sharply struck piece. The fields display cartwheel luster, not uncommon for the issue although no commercial strikes are reported. The 1886 is the last of the three proof-only dates in the Three Cent Nickel series, and while specimens may be available for a price in typical proof grades, populations drop dramatically above the PR66 level. As of (1/05), a mere three pieces have been encapsulated as PR68, none with a Cameo designation. From the Bruce Scher #1 All-Time PCGS Registry Set.(#3782) (Registry values: N2998)
