Description

1853 Arrows Seated Dime, MS66 CAC
Fortin-118, A Recent Discovery

1853 10C Arrows MS66 PCGS. CAC. F-118. Large arrowheads are positioned high in the space to the left and right on the Hubbed Date and Arrows varieties, and they are always in the same position on multiple obverse dies. Others are unhubbed with those elements entered in a separate process. Fortin identifies 19 obverse dies based solely on die cracks as the date position remains unchanged. This example is an early die state of Fortin-118, a recent discovery that was identified through a different example in 2019. Several obverse die cracks include one across Liberty's neck and left facing arm, and another through the right arrowhead. This Premium Gem is remarkable for its frosty silver luster that shines through gold, violet, blue, and green toning. The wonderful surfaces are free of distracting marks. Population: 51 in 66 (6 in 66+), 22 finer. CAC: 23 in 66, 9 finer (12/24).(Registry values: N2998)
