1845-O $5 AU53 NGC. Variety 1. The New Orleans Mint struck 41,000 half eagles in 1845, and these circulated extensively in the South. Mint State survivors are rare. Offered here is a collectible AU example with partial luster in the fields and bright yellow-gold color. Wear is light and neither side has major abrasions. Census: 14 in 53, 67 finer (4/19).(Registry values: P7)
